Our Last Year in the Sea of Cortez
Photo of Tim windsurfing in crowded anchorage. Granted, this was during the Full Moon Party in La Mona... but it gives you an idea and especially considering it doesn't catch the boats behind. No skinny dipping this year!
In case you're wondering why we suddenly are able to post photos, we are back in Santa Rosalia. We love this town so much we can hardly stay away! Actually, there were so many boats up in the Northern Sea this year that we didn't stay nearly as long as we anticipated. Last year we spent exactly three months; this year we spent exactly one month.
I counted 49 boats alone... and I know I missed some! I was shocked at the number of boats in the anchorages. I think there were twice as many as last year. And that alone hampered our desire to go to many of our favorite spots... if you get there and the anchorage is full, then you go to another... but what if that's full, too? What if the wind switches and you have to get to another anchorage fast? And thank the good Lord that there weren't any hurricanes this year... I don't even want to imagine.
Sadly, this is our last year in the Sea of Cortez. Our plan is to head south from here and reach El Salvador by March next year.
