Day 5 - Thinking About a Cruising Family from Montrose

Hotdog stand with the Beemer CrewHow likely is it that we would run into a man from Montrose, Colorado while sailing the Sea of Cortez? Very likely! It is just what happened!

Matt Beemer, along with his wife Paula and two daughters Samantha and Trinidad,Samantha, Carolyne, Trinidad and Chocolate Pudding and a Movie! pulled into Santa Rosalia, MX recently. His first words to us when he came ashore were, "That's not Olathe, Colorado on the back of your boat is it?" When someone pronounces the tiny town of Olathe correctly, you know your are in touch with a west slope Coloradan. In our case, we were in touch with a Montrovian! Matt is from Montrose... same small town both our children were born, same small town Jim has lived in for years and years, same small town Jim ran his business, same small town my in-laws lived for many years. It's not just ironic; it is unbelievable!

Handsanitizer moment: Paula being funny... Tim looking at the hotdogs! The Beemer family is just finishing up their cruising life for now. They have sailed down to Costa Rica and Panama with their two little girls on a Morgan 382. They are headed up to San Carlos to finish their journey and put the boat up for sale. They will return to the states and begin searching for work. It's heartbreaking and Girls having a Tea Party - PHOTO BY PAULA  exciting for them.

I really enjoy cruising and my favorite part I have to say is meeting all the wonderful people along the way. These folks fit in the truly wonderful people category. We really hit it off with this family. We were very sad to see them leave Santa Rosalia. We would have loved to spend much more time with them.

The BeemersGood luck Endurance and Beemer Family!

We will miss you!
