Full Moon Party at La Mona (Wednesday 10/07/09)
The full moon parties are few and far between. After all, they happen only at a full moon. The first party we missed because we ran like scared chickens up to Bahia Willard during hurricane Jimena. I’d do it again in heartbeat, by the way, versus being penned up like a can of sardines in Puerto Pollo (Puerto Don Juan). This next full moon party... we were not going to miss this one! The lagoon fills up with tons of water at high tide and wallowers ride the tide out... FUN! A bunch of grown up, old people giggling and being spit out the mouth of the lagoon like human lugies... it was total fun!! And the kids had a blast, too. A potluck dinner was served up that evening, but the wind discouraged many potluckers... so we had a small attendance. Still, it was fun to be around other cruisers, eating, talking and sharing laughter. We kept our eyes peeled for the smallish rattlesnake our friends saw a couple days before. About a foot long, this little rattler was curled up in the sand sunning himself... right on the beach! Luckily, he slithered off somewhere else before the party and thankfully didn’t return.
