The Cost of Cruising for February 2009 & 2010
February shows large expenses in 2009 due to having ‘Windfall’ hauled out and her bottom painted in La Paz, MX. We brought our own anti-fouling paint, so the expense is haul out and labor. We also purchased radios and a new tuner.
February 2010, we began rebuilding the Ford Lehman aboard ‘Hotspur’ in Mazatlan, MX. The rebuild includes both cost of parts we had to have imported from the states and labor we hired out here in Mazatlan. You’ll notice marina fees for ‘Windfall’ only. During this time, we sent emails and alerted all on our email list that we were selling 'Windfall'. Our thinking at the time was that we would eventually list it with the brokers, but we wanted to try this venue first. We offered 'Windfall', our 35' Cal Cruising, for $35,000US. It was "cruiser ready" with the exception of needing a dinghy. We needed to sell 'Windfall' FAST!
