Mazatlan, Mexico Marina Rate Comparison (Wednesday - April 28, 2010)

There are several very nice marinas in Mazatlan to choose from. We have stayed in three of the four I am listing:

  • El Cid - (monitors channel)
  • Singlar - Fonatur (monitors channel 67)
  • Marina Mazatlan (monitors channel 16)
  • Isla Marina (doesn't monitor a frequency)

When you enter the channel, El Cid Marina is the first marina you pass on your starboard side. We have never stayed at El Cid because it is the most expensive marina. But, I can confirm that their swimming pools and hot tubs are luxurious. This fantastic resort marina offers cruisers all the delicious and glamorous resort amenities. We were fortunate to have our friends on ‘Just A Minute’ and ‘Two Pieces of Eight’ stay there and we got to sample life at El Cid. This is a small marina, so it is imperative that you have reservations during the busy cruiser winter months.

Singlar is up the way from El Cid and is the next marina on your starboard side. This small marina offers haul out facilities, too. The rates are very affordable. The staff here is super courteous and professional. This Singlar facility differs very little from any other Singlar, except there is no restaurant or store on location. But there is an outdoor bar/disco open some evenings... much to the chagrin of some cruisers.

Marina Mazatlan is very popular and is just next door to Singlar. The cruiser facilities are nice and clean. Elvira runs the marina at Marina Mazatlan and she is a ‘sweetie’! Rates here are roughly more than Singlar, but less than El Cid. Internet is fantastic and there are a variety of restaurants and bars to frequent.

Isla Marina (also referred to as ‘Muelle A’ or ‘A Dock’) is on the man-made Island at Isla Resort. This is not an ‘official’ cruiser’s marina, but they do rent slips on an availability basis. The person to speak with is Sergio or his sister, Priscilla. Isla is by far the cheapest marina... we paid $12US per day to keep 35' Windfall there (that included tax, electricity, water, trash and use of bathrooms/showers). And the rates apply whether your boat is there one day or thirty days. The downside to Isla is that the amenities are lacking.
