Mazatlan "Carnaval" - Carnival (Sunday - February 14, 2010)
Mazatlan’s “Carnaval” for 2010 spanned over the dates of 2/11-16. Our Valentine's present to ourselves was to purchase tickets to the AguaMarina Hotel. For 410 pesos per person ($32US), we received a buffet meal and reserved seating to watch the 3rd largest carnival in the world. It was fantastic! What is nice about Mazatlan’s carnival is that it is very family oriented. Having been to the New Orlean’s Mardi Gras a couple times, the Mazatlan carnival is “clean” family fun!
The food was delicious... fresh ceviche served in giant clam shells, stuffed chicken breast, pork tenderloin, and beef stroganoff. A variety of vegetables and salads and beautiful desserts tempted all.
The parade seating was raked and we had an excellent view of the parade without the hassle of being stepped on. The lighting could have been better; our photographs didn’t turn out as well as we had hoped.
