Engine still not running (Tuesday - March 16, 2010)
Monday was a Mexican federal holiday... Benito Juarez's birthday. The mechanics showed up anyway and worked, worked, worked! Then, Tuesday they didn't show. There is no explanation and no reason to get upset... we are in Mexico after all. As of today, the Ford Lehman 80 is still not working.
We've checked the batteries... they are new and they seem to be holding a charge... so that's not it... we think. The starter doesn't seem to have enough UMPH to turn the engine over... probably because the engine parts are brand new and everything inside is tight.
Instead, we worked on other projects today. I sewed screens for our hatches to keep the bugs out. Tim worked on the Tohatsu 5HP 4 stroke outboard engine trying to get it to idle effortlessly AND he used the manual (he gets that from me and NOT from his father!). Jim worked on cleaning out, sanding and epoxying the 128 gallon fuel tank. Carolyne managed to escape after schoolwork to play with her friend, Chandler. She will have make-up chores tomorrow and she will lament relentlessly and out loud and all day long. Too bad.
