Hauling Out and on the Hard in Mazatlan, Mexico (Monday - April 26, 2010)
Hauling out always make us nervous. Will they damage the boat? Will we back into something when we're trying to get her in the slings? Will the slings sustain her hefty tonnage? Will we have issues that are more costly than we care to know about?????
Singlar Marina hauled us out Monday so that Total Yachtworks can re-paint the bottom of the boat. Friends of ours came along in a dinghy in case we needed help. There was no wind... you can't ask for better when your trying to reverse your vessel into a narrow opening! Agustine, head of the crew, arranged the slings perfectly and there was no damage to the prop or rudder when they brought her up.
We are now officially "on the hard". We are awaiting confirmation of number of blisters that will have to be ground out and epoxied. Looks like there is only one coat of paint... and it needs ot come off. So, we will have to put a barrier coat down, which will cost more. But, we want to get it all done now and we don't want to haul out again any time soon!
