A Comparison of Cruising Expenses for MARCH 2009 & 2010
During the month of March, two very important events occurred. The first, we sold Windfall! Only seven weeks after purchasing Hotspur, we sold Windfall’to our friends, Doug and Ann Brown. Second, the mechanics started the engine on Hotspur! She’s nowhere close to leaving the marina slip, but the engine started. YIPPEE!
Jim spent much of this month cleaning Hotspur's 128 gallon fuel tank. He spent excruciating hours wire brushing the innards. To our amazement, she appeared salvageable! After using thinner, acetone and then cleaning profusely, Jim spent more excruciating hours painting epoxy inside to seal the small pits that formed due to corrosion. He hand painted three layers of epoxy inside the fuel tank (waiting after each application ofr it to dry) and after the third coat, we waited... 25 days for it to cure!
Meanwhile, I spent time constructing a shade cloth for the deck and cleaning the Barient winches. This, of course, is in addition to grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, bill paying, Blog writing, photo taking, cooking, and step-n-fetch-it errand girling.
