We are headed to La Paz this morning... a 2 nighter. So this will be a quickie. Below is a comparison between May 2009 cruising and May 2010. Buying a new boat is costly... period.

May 2009 May 2010
Groceries: $556.31 $665.05
Boat Hardware: $39.31 $290.82
Transportation: $5.38 $50.54
Dining Out: $131.08 $108.62
Boat Fuel: $40.77 N/A

Propane: $3.85

$5.77
Tourism: $119.23 N/A
Gifts: $40 $119.15
Mail: $100 $50
Auto: $117.80 No car in 2010
2009 TOTAL:........$1,153.73

Fabrics/Crafts: $20.95
Laundry: $19.62
Booze: $123.23
Medical: $19.88
MISC: $8.88
  2010 Comparison Total: $1,482.51
 HOTSPUR's Expenses
Boat Equipment: $207.63
HOTSPUR Engine/Fuel Tank Rebuild: $4,962.66
Marina/Mooring $530.25
  2010 GRAND TOTAL: $7,183.05

The items listed under "HOTSPUR's Expenses" are additional May 2010 costs related mostly to refurbishing the new boat. I  listed these separately because they not an expense that you would have if you already own your boat and have it cruiser ready. Marina fees are a rarity with us, but were necessary to facilitate the engine rebuild, fuel tank repairs, etc... Also, these costs were mostly offset by selling our other boat, 'Windfall'.
