San Blas - LOVE!
We visited here in 2006 when we were RVing down the beautiful coast of Mexico. Not much has changed in the 5 years since we were here last. The palm trees, mangroves, historic buildings and food carts still make this quaint town something from out of a story book. It is a beautiful, tranquil oasis.
The bugs are the only drawback as far as I can see. No-see-ums... jejenes. They are wicked small and I'm pretty sure if I looked through a microscope I'd find large, gnashing teeth behind their miniscule and smiling lips. Jim and I have been chewed up... even after using the famously good repellents. We're burning coils to no avail... although I've just stopped writing to go light one. Blood thirsty savages they are! The kids must not taste very good. I guess I'm glad for that. Thank goodness for AFTER BITE and BENEDRYL anti-itching sticks... they really work!
Everyday we are strolling through the lovely town of San Blas. I love it here! The people are darling and the food... the food is fantastic! And fairly cheap... although I'll tell the story of the ketchup fish another time. The taco stands are more addicting than alcohol and the fruit is amazing. Being here with our good friends on Third Day has made our visit here all the more special, as they know secret spots and have family they have adopted in this town.
