Barra Pics

We had WAY too much fun in Barra de Navidad. Between the Carnival and the waterpark and the beach and the wonderful people and the delicious food and the loud music - life is WAY good during and after Barra! And we spent WAY too much money - and we wouldn't have except that Barra felt like being on vacation from cruising.

For someone who is not yet cruising but wants to be - well, they might scoff at that comment, spit at the screen or make ugly hand gestures upon reading my words. But cruising is a lot of work. If something is not broken on the boat, it's only because you don't know it yet. And just because you want to go somewhere doesn't mean the weather is going to cooperate. And if the wind is fab for sailing, it doesn't mean that the sea conditions are fab, too. And when you get to an anchorage, it doesn't mean that the swell won't sneak in behind you the minute you rest your head on your pillow and roughly rock-a-bye-baby you all night until you fall out of your bunk. Cruising means you have to find a place for your trash, you have to make or haul water to drink, you have to find that spare part you know you have but have yet to locate and there are no stores to go buy another, and you just have to make due until... you don't have to anymore.

While Jim, Carolyne and I preferred hanging out with friends and going places, Tim most times preferred to hang out at the Sands Hotel which offered cruisers excellent internet for 20 pesos a day. So, Tim is is in few photos (and we're also going through the teenage I-don't-want-my-picture-taken phase) and since I am the photographer - I'm in none.

Barra de Navidad was a vacation!
