Revisiting Steinbeck’s Canyon on Windfall Blog (Saturday 11/21/09)
Jim, the kids, and I hiked this gorgeous canyon back in Mar-Apr... prior to Hurricane Jimena. Since the hurricane, the foliage is bright green, flowering, and brilliant! The fresh water pools, underground springs and waterfalls are beckoning!
The Faulkner family had a fantastic hike with our friends: Doug and Ann Brown from Nopolo, Mexico and their two children, Chandler and Henry, Chris and Rani off ‘Ladybug’, and Rich and Laurie off ‘Third Day’ and their two children, Amy and Jason. Some of the more daring... that would be everyone but Jim, Rich, Laurie, Ann, Henry and myself... jumped fearlessly into the chilled fresh water pools to swim.
Over the boulders and through caves and caverns we went! The kids were like little goats, jumping and leaping off large rock formations and up steep walls. We couldn’t keep up with them. It was a refreshing experience and the beauty surrounding us was remarkable. It is truly the most beautiful hike we have ever experienced in the Baja!
