Fourth of July

Jim the kids and I drove our 10 year old car to El Burro in Bahia Concepcion for some good ole' American fun! Quite a few cruisers showed up and there were about 30 boats anchored in the bay. Gary is an old hippie dude that lives down there and he treats everyone to free hotdogs every year. Most cruisers bring side dishes or desserts or appies. There was live music and 10 peso beer and soda.

The climax for me was meeting new cruisers, especially kid boats. 'Third Day' was there with two children and 'Ocean Blue' with also two children. Bill and Jean on 'Mitta Kuulu' brought their granddaughter. Bill and Jean also gave a seminar on cruising to El Salvador, which was inspiring and provoking. Jim and I are both very interested in visiting that country.

Tim and Carolyne were having such fun  that they were most unhappy (vocal about it, too) when we told them the sun was setting and we needed to head back to Santa Rosalia. They were disappointed about missing fireworks, but we don't like to drive at night in Mexico. The next day we found out the fireworks were barely underway when the demo box caught fire due to a stray spark. Fireworks exploded all over the ground, catapulting fiery embers into the crowd, in the restaurant, on top of palapas, etc... after the ground fires, roof fires and table fires were extinguished, the show was over. Tim and Carolyne were forgiving since the fireworks were sucky; Jim and I felt a little gypped we missed all the excitement!
