Hammerhead at Sweet Pea Cove
Visiting Sweet Pea Cove on Isla San Marcos was a relief... from the heat! When anchored one night here and enjoyed the fresh breeze and cool, clean water! Several caves are located around the island. A private beach lies behind the cave and the kids played endlessly. Snorkeling was only so-so, as the water was slightly cloudy.
Fish camp remains confirmed the presence of hammerhead sharks in the area. We're hoping they were caught WAY off shore and brought back for cleaning. We actually saw a live hammerhead hovering on top of the water on our way back to Santa Rosalia. We tried to fish, but only had a few nibbles. We're pretty sure a Yellow Tail grabbed one of the rapalas and made a B-line for the rocks... where he cleverly severed the line and swam away with the lure. We were disappointed! Alas... the trials and tribulations of fishing!
