San Evaristo

SSan Evaristo anchoragean Evaristo is a safe anchorage for messy days. We took shelter here during a 25-30 knot northerly, since our heading is also north! We found it very relaxing and aesthetic.

The beaches in Evaristo are not my favorite. There are no shells to speak of. It's a small fishing village and the beach feels "muddy" to me. The hills and arroyos are something else, though! Carolyne surprised me by finding a couple of very nice geode samples during several of our hikes there. We had to navigate around the various wild cacti, but managed to avoid nasty spines, stinging insects and pit vipers! The views were wonderful up in the hills! Carolyne is also pretty sure she found an arrowhead shard!Carolyne is pretty sure she found an arrowhead shard!

A small tienda in the village stocks a variety of groceries. We stocked up on fresh veggies and fruit while in Evaristo. To Jim's dismay, it's a "dry" town and we're dangerously low on beer. Rumor has it that the men in the village weren't fishing geode formationenough due to local libations being too readily available. The women are said to have gotten together and agreed that no alcohol should be sold in Evaristo so that their men would be more productive!
