Casting Off!!
Thanksgiving Day! We finally cast off from Puerto Salinas Marina where we have been living aboard Windfall for 5 months. We received a hearty (and tearful) farewell from our beloved community of Puerto Salinas friends. Our crew consists of: CAP'N JIM, our 2 swabs TIM (13) and CAROLYNE (9), our friend and avid fisherman DON (who will accompany us as far as Cabo San Lucas hoping to land the BIG one), BAILEY our 11 year old rescue dog, and myself (MERI).
We postponed our trip for 2 days because of inclement weather, but it looks good for the rest of the week. Slightly drizzly and cool. We are buttoned up in fleecy warm attire and our foul weather gear. We plan to sail to San Martin Island and anchor for food and rest for just a few hours... that is approximately 20 hours away. The dreaded sea-sickness got a hold of me... and overtook me again... and again. Never mind the ginger tonics, B12 and crackers I proactively took beginning a couple days prior! Jim, Don and Carolyne seem fine. Tim and Bailey are running for second pukiest. We sailed past Ensenada and Todos Santos before turning on the engine and motor sailing through the night. Saw many dolphins and a whale. Following seas and winds N-NW are a good thing!
