Windfall Blog: Santa Rosalia, Mexico
I don't know if it's because we're staying in a marina after 6 months of anchoring out or if it's just the pleasure of being in a quaint town with lovely people... Santa Rosalia is my favorite town on the Baja so far. Copper mining was the big draw in the 1860's; mining is coming alive here again. Canning plants and a ferry from Guaymas also keep many locals employed. We're side-tied at the docks at Marina Santa Rosalia. It is economical ($230US) and the boaters here are wonderful. Supplies are within walking distance and the locals are very helpful. I'm thrilled with the excellent internet we get right on the boat!
Above is a beautiful steel church designed and built by the famous Gustave Eiffel in 1887. It is located in the downtown area of Santa Rosalia and is really a beautiful architectural piece. Weddings and catechisms are held there frequently.
