Steinbeck's Canyon
Sierra del la Giganta (or Steinbeck's Canyon) is a gorgeous boulder strewn hike through an amazing canyon. Rainwater pools are found in the rocks, ideal for swimming or sunbathing. ble, but managed to keep up and not to break anything. Jim and Tim both shimmied up a narrow drop. Getting back down was more calculated. The contrast of dry dessert and palm and ficas trees is so incredibly beautiful. I can see why John Steinbeck was so engrossed with the area as he mentioned in his The Log from the Sea of Cortez. We didn't think to bring hiking boots on the sailboat, so we have had to order some online to have shipped to Grandpa in AZ for future pick up. This hike has been so spectacular that we can't wait to do more!
