Jim and Meri at LoretoFest/ Escondido, Mexico (May 2009)We ended up staying a month in Escondido... leaving only a few days to go to Bahía Salina. We payed for a mooring ball in the main anchorage for 12 days while Jim traveled north to retrieve the car and visit his dad. The kids and I stayed on board Windfall. He returned just in time for LoretoFest, which was fabulous!

Paper NautilusJim and Tim each found one of these beauties on Punta Salina, just across the way from San Evaristo. They are very fragile and ours have remained in tact thankfully due to an empty cottage cheese container and cottonballs.

Jim, kids and Bailey hiking Steinbeck's CanyonSierra del la Giganta (or Steinbeck's Canyon) is a gorgeous boulder strewn hike through an amazing canyon. Rainwater pools are found in the rocks, ideal for swimming or sunbathing. We made the mistake of taking the dog. It was a bit "over the top" for her... literally. The kids did fantastic.

Cool Cushion Star kids found snorkeling in EscondidoWe sailed from Agua Verde to Escondido in light winds, so we put out our colorful drifter and had a beautiful ride! Escondido is a beautiful anchorage surrounded by many rocky mountains.

'Windfall' at northern anchorage in Agua VerdeAnother gorgeous anchorage! Palm trees and cacti scatter themselves throughout the landscape. Various rock formations are seen in the water making for a dangerous passage to the bay.

San Evaristo

SSan Evaristo anchoragean Evaristo is a safe anchorage for messy days. We took shelter here during a 25-30 knot northerly, since our heading is also north! We found it very relaxing and aesthetic.

Isla San Francisco

Tim and pufferfishOne of our favorite sites is "The Hook" on Isla San Francisco. This uninhabited island is wonderful for hiking, kayaking, snorkeling (although I'm the only one who still feels the water is too cold!), and beachcombing. The anchorage is clean... water clear blue!

La Paz

'Windfall' with new bottom paint and CarolyneWe spent a total of 3 months in La Paz. It is a great spot to provision and has many marinas to choose from. We opted to anchor out instead and save the money we would have spent at the marinas for dining out and entertainment.
